Printed Postcards of 3DS Max Renders (2023)

My first upper-level class that I ever took in design was an interior design course. It wasn't long after studying how to design spaces that I quickly became fascinated with architecture. To me, architecture stands at the pinnacle of design as it requires a deep understanding of space, furniture, color, and light. It envelopes everything I strive to understand.

During my time at the University of Iowa, I was granted the privilege to teach another one of my newfound passions: 3D modeling.

While studying graphic design, I was presented with the open-ended prompt to design a series of postcards. Seeing as I had a deep interest in architecture and a passion for modeling, I jumped at the opportunity to create some architecture of my own.

From this, resulted in a series of postcards seen below. Six original pavilion designs inspired by a variety of things, from famous architects like Zaha Hadid, to simple forms found in the world like igloos!

Color!

In approaching a design, I always feel like it takes me a very long time to make a decision with color. Admittedly, it is an area in which I have a lot left to learn.

That is why for these post card designs, I pushed myself to use color in a bolder, and unapologetic way. It was a valuable and liberating exercise that will inform many of my designs in the future.
